Continued atrocities of Pakistani forces in Balochistan are concerning

BSO Azad

Spokesperson of Baloch Students Organisation Azad has condemned the recent events of atrocities of Pakistani forces in Balochistan and asked the international community to play their due role in stopping Pakistani forces from committing war crimes in Balochistan. In a recent series of human rights violations, Pakistani forces abducted a student, Fayaz Lashari on April 15 in Quetta when he was on his way to Quetta from Islamabad, while three more dead bodies have been shifted to hospital by the forces. All three of them have been identified as missing persons, one of whom is Fareed Shahwani, who was abducted by the forces in August 2022. It is the sign of the continuous fake encounters of Baloch missing persons by CTD, a cover force of the Pakistani military. However, the other two have been identified as Azeem Khan and Hazrat Sumalani from Harnai who were detained by the military in March 2023.

The spokesperson further said that the recent media trial of illegally detained Mahal Baloch is worrying as Pakistani forces continue to torture her and take forcible confession to justify the state’s illegal abduction of Mahal Baloch. On the other hand, such a media trail shows the hypocrisy and the reality of the so-called media which does not hesitate going to prison to take the confession of Mahal Baloch, but do not bother to ask the other persons of the family about the incident. Instead of listening to the grievances of the families of Baloch Missing Persons, media channels are becoming a part of the military forces against Baloch missing persons and other issues of Balochistan. Such events show how Pakistani media is continuing to work on the parole of Pakistani forces in occupied Balochistan.

At the end of his statement, the spokesperson appeals to the international bodies of human rights to play their due role in stopping Pakistani forces from committing gross human rights violations in Balochistan, and asked international media to visit Balochistan to check on the real situations. The recent report of HRCP is an example of our grievances regarding the actual situation of Balochistan which needs to be addressed by the international community.
