Hameed Baloch: A Resilient Warrior
Baloch mothers have given birth to numerous courageous warriors who have valiantly resisted colonial ambitions on Baloch land. Some have tragically lost their lives in battle against occupying forces, while many others have been tortured to death for their unwavering support of the Baloch National Liberation Movement. Among these remarkable individuals, Hameed Baloch stands out as a true embodiment of Baloch resilience. In the face of an occupying Pakistan army that sought to recruit Baloch youth for war in Oman, Hameed Baloch made a remarkable decision. He chose to stand against the colonial forces, advocating that the youth fight for their own liberation movement rather than becoming pawns in the service of external powers. His unwavering commitment and sacrifices served as a beacon of inspiration for thousands of Baloch youth, motivating them to reclaim their land and fight for their own cause.
Hameed Baloch, a valiant soul hailing from Kunchati, Dasht, was born in 1949 and became a revolutionary figure through his unwavering dedication to the cause of the Baloch Nation. His story reached its tragic climax on 11th June 1984 when he was unjustly hanged by Pakistani occupiers in Mach jail. However, before bidding farewell to his family, Hameed shared these poignant words: “I am neither the first nor the only one to shed blood for Balochistan. Countless Baloch have sacrificed their lives for the motherland. In my own family, I am only the second to face the hangman’s noose. I willingly give my life for the noble cause, knowing that the younger generation of Baloch will ultimately achieve it.”
Hameed Baloch’s unwavering dedication to the Baloch cause symbolizes the indomitable spirit of the Baloch people. Hameed Baloch’s profound commitment to the struggle for Balochistan’s freedom led him to embrace death over a life of servitude. He believed that a life in bondage was a curse, and he chose to make the ultimate sacrifice instead. By laying down his life, Hameed Baloch transformed into a symbol of inspiration for the Baloch nation. Thousands of youth have since embraced his ideology, joining the fight against Pakistani occupation on Baloch land. Though Hameed is no longer among us, his revolutionary ideas and thoughts for a free Balochistan continue to resonate with the warriors of Balochistan. Countless Baloch individuals have also chosen death over slavery, following in his footsteps.
