The case of Shabir Baloch
Report
The former Information Secretary of the Baloch Students Organisation Azad; Shabir Baloch hails from a small village of Awaran, Balochistan; Labach.
He joined the student politics in his early age and formally became member of the organisation in 2009, serving different positions. In the 20th general council session of BSO Azad, held in 2015, he was elected as Information Secretary, the position of Spokesperson of the organisation.
He is student leader, and was engaged in peaceful political struggle, educating youth towards national consciousness and struggling against the colonial system in Balochistan. But his political struggle was seen as a threat for the colonial state of Pakistan. He was forcibly disappeared and detained on 4th October, 2016 by the tyrant Pakistani security forces from the Gwarkop area of Kech, Balochistan. He was forcibly abducted in front of his wife, Zareena Baloch.
From the day of his forceful disappearance, his whereabouts remained unknown completing ten years of enforced disappearance. The organisation and his family have been raising voices and campaigning for his safe release through various means. His sister Seema Baloch and wife Zareena Baloch have been protesting and trying every means for his safe return. They both became the symbol of resistance against the enforced disappearance in Balochistan. But they couldn’t get justice, only disappointment.
The occupying Pakistan state has been trying to supress the legitimate Baloch national struggle through abducting and keeping Baloch political workers in unknown torture cells. There are thousands of Baloch students, political workers, teachers, doctors, and ordinary people who become victims of enforced disappearance and are bearing torture in unknown Pakistani torture cells. The leaders of BSO Azad have been prime target of the colonial Pakistani state’s atrocities. The former Information Secretary of the organisation, Shabir Baloch is one of the victim of this war crime being committed by Pakistan state on Baloch nation.
