The Central Spokesperson of the Baloch Students’ Organization Azad expressed regret over the role of political and human rights organizations in the eight-year anniversary of the enforced disappearance of Zahid Baloch, former chairman of the organization and important political leader of the Baloch National Movement. Zahid Baloch is a political thinker and Baloch leader who has been imprisoned for the last 8 years while the state institutions have not been held accountable for this heinous crime. Zahid Baloch’s enforced disappearance is part of a crackdown on political voices and political activists inside Pakistan are made.
The spokesman said that Zahid Baloch was forcibly disappeared eight years ago today from Satellite Town area of Quetta in the presence of Banuk Karima. Banuk Karima has also filed a case of forcible disappearance of Zahid Baloch before international organizations while Karima Baloch was also martyred last year but Zahid Baloch is still missing and he has not been brought to light yet. The organization has informed the world about the enforced disappearance of Zahid Baloch and in this connection rallies and protests have been organized from hunger strike to death. The organization also ended the hunger strike till death on the assurance of the Asian Human Rights Commission that pressure would be increased on Pakistan to bring Zahid Baloch to light, but after the protest ended, the assurance was reduced to an assurance and Zahid Baloch is still missing. Zahid Baloch was the chairman of the most active political student organization in Balochistan. Such enforced disappearances and disappearances are clear evidence of state terrorism against the political struggle. The enforced disappearance of a national leader like Zahid Baloch is certainly a moment of reflection. Everyone should play their full role in the recovery of the former chairman of the organization.
At the end of the statement, the spokesman said that the organization is still based on the national thinking of Zahid Baloch and the same ideology is being carried forward by his ideological associates. Although the enemy has succeeded in imprisoning Zahid Baloch, but Zahid’s ideology and philosophy is a part of the consciousness of every Baloch youth today. It is the result of hard work and sacrifice of political thinkers and activists like Zahid that every Baloch youth today thinks of Baloch national liberation. We have no hope from the courts of the occupying state, but let the international community and human rights organizations be part of the organization’s struggle against the non-recovery and non-disclosure of Zahid Baloch.
